THE ALGARVEANS
About Us
The Algarveans (or to give the group its official Portuguese name, Os Actingalgarveans Angloluso Associaçao Teatro Experimental) is an amateur drama group based in the Algarve, Portugal.
We aim to produce three plays a year, including a family show/pantomime. We are an active group who have members from multicultural backgrounds, however, we do perform our productions in English.
Currently we perform our shows at the beautiful Auditório Carlos do Carmo, Lagoa
which seats up to 300 for each performance,
Our rehearsals, social events, workshops, staged readings take place at “The Little Theatre” – Uniâo Juventude de Sesmarias, Cabeço Das Pias, Carvoeiro. 8400-516
The group benefits from having members of all ages, the youngest being aged 10 to others in their 80s. We are an inclusive group and do not audition for membership, although we do have informal auditions for shows.
There is also a great social side to the group and we try and organise as many events as our production schedule allows and are open to new ideas and suggestions.
